The Medina County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Medina County Health Department were just awarded funding from the National Association of City & County Health Officials (NACCHO) to hold two Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) sessions in 2020 for our MRC Volunteers. We know that MRC units play a critical role in increasing access to information and training community members so that they feel educated and empowered to act before, during, and after an emergency. This is why it is essential to train MRC in Mental Health First Aid. Mental health is a leading public health priority and those that experience mental health issues will have an increased need for services, especially during and after an incident. MRC will be able to help identify and provide resources as a result of having been MHFA trained and therefore better equipped to respond.
